Dr. Heather Douglas
Heather Douglas, DVM, MBA, CVA
Veterinarian & Owner

Dr. Douglas knew from a young age that she would be a veterinarian. This career choice guided her entire youth, and she is thrilled to be able to live out her dream. Dr. Douglas graduated from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. She has a strong interest in internal medicine.

Veterinarian

Dr. Green always loved animals, especially her childhood kitty, Spunky. She moved from Winnipeg, Manitoba, to attend Veterinary College at the University of Minnesota, where she graduated in 2002. After practicing in corporate practice and animal rescue for many years, she moved part-time to have more time for her family.

Hospital Manager, MBA, CVT

Melissa graduated from St. George’s University (Grenada) with her Masters in Business Administration – Multi-Sector Health Care. She then completed her A.A.S and certification in Veterinary Technology. Melissa and her husband Aaron are the proud parents of their human children Harper and Gavin and their fur child Charli. After Hurricane Harvey, Charli was brought up to Minnesota through rescue transport, and Melissa knew that they had to be Charli’s forever home; it was love at first sight.

Veterinary Technician

Tammy graduated from Argosy University with her A.A.S. in veterinary technology and has been a Certified Veterinary Technician since April 2016. In her spare time, Tammy enjoys camping and hiking with her 4-year-old Schnauzer mix, Tagtoo, playing volleyball and softball, and snuggling with her 15-year-old long-haired Tabby, Buzz.

Wendy graduated from Globe University with a degree in Veterinary Technology and brought many years of clinical experience to Douglas Animal Hospital. She has two adult human children, three Sphinx cats, two dogs, and a menagerie of other animals. Wendy loves client education and the human-animal bond.

Cara has always wanted to work with animals and started volunteering at the Animal Humane Society in high school. After high school, she worked at a dog daycare/boarding facility for almost two years. She is currently attending North Hennepin Community College in their Criminal Justice program and wants to work more with rescuing animals after getting her degree. When not at work, she can be found hanging out with her fur baby JoJo.

Abby is a fourth year pre-vet student at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. She has a background working with shelter animals at the Animal Humane Society. This is where she adopted her best friend, Boog. When not at work or school, Abby enjoys camping and hiking with her family

Katie has always had a strong interest and passion in caring for animals big or small. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her 3 year old cat and crafting. Currently she is studying to further my education in veterinary medicine at Penn Foster.

Emma is originally from Stevens Point WI and is a fourth year pre-vet student at the University of MN. She has previous experience as an assistant in veterinary emergency medicine and has a passion for this high paced environment. Her dog Wren holds a special place in Emma’s heart; Wren is the perfect companion.

I’ve always wanted to work with animals! I’ve been in vet med for 13 years and plan to continue to do so! I have 2 dogs and 2 cats of my own! My husband, son, and I love to be outside playing yard games! You’ll always see me wearing Christmas socks because it’s my favorite holiday!

Growing up Syd always knew she would be working with animals. In high school she started working at a dog boarding/training facility, after 5 years she decided to take the jump into Veterinary medicine as an assistant. She received her certification through Penn Foster and has plans to one day become a Technician. On her days off she enjoys spending time with her 5 year old Pug Papaya, and thrift shopping with her friends.

Jennifer graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato, with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and Spanish. She has always known she wanted to work with animals and loves that she gets to see animals all day and use her communication background. Jennifer shares her home with her dog Owen and fiancé Tyler. Outside of Douglas Animal Hospital, she enjoys outdoor activities, reading, and spending time with her family, friends, and dogs.

I currently care for four pets of my own, giving me hands-on experience and a deep understanding of animal needs and behavior. Clinic Mascot

Mr. Waffles is our clinic mascot. Weighing in at 2.5 pounds and growing daily, Mr. Waffles is a 14-week-old Persian kitten that Douglas Animal Hospital adopted. He enjoys eating, snuggling, and playing in recycling bins. Mr. Waffles is happiest when napping in Dr. Douglas’ lab coat. Stop by for some Mr. Waffles cuddle time and meet our little mascot!
